Notes 8.x making feel much faster.

An interesting tweak posted at "Andrew Pollack's Blog" long back on "Making Notes 8.x (including 8.5 beta) in Eclipse feel much faster" Thanks to (AndrewP)

Increasing the vmarg.Xmx= value on "jvm.properties" actually improves the performnace. Details are available on Andrew Polloack`s Blog.

I made this change on my 3GB Laptop , bumped the setting to 1024 and i see some improvements.

Updating a user ID file using obsolescent Name Change feature.

How can Notes user ID be updated to reflect the current name for this active user ?

The answere is yes using Obsolescent Name Change feature available only via the Domino Administrative client.

• Open Admin Client, go to Configuration tab -> Tools -> Certification -> ID Properties.
• Select an ID to modify, You will require the ID password to access properties.
• From the ID Properties dialog box, click Your Identity -> Your Name -> Name Change
• On the Name Change dialog box, select Advanced Options -> Click the Obsolescent Name Change button and specify a name to be changed.

SwiftFile is an intelligent assistant for Lotus Notes that helps users organize their e-mail into folders. SwiftFile uses a text classifier to learn each user's mail-filing habits. SwiftFile uses the model it learns to predict the three folders into which the user is most likely to place each incoming message. The predictions are presented to the user as three shortcut buttons that allow the user to quickly file each message into one of the predicted folders.

There is no limit to my excitement, when i heared that i will attending Lotusphere 2010. Thanks to my manager because of whome this was possible. One of my dream came true.

On Monday, IBM launch LotusLive iNotes business-quality, low-cost email. At a price of US$36/user/year. Its a cloud-based corporate email service.

IBM spokesman said its about 25 percent less than what Google charges for a more robust product. Lotus Live includes exciting features such as e-mail, Web conferencing, instant messaging, social networking and more.

Notes Client Single Sign on with Windows 7 Operating system.

For those who are looking to evaluate Windows 7 OS. Notes client Single Sign On is not working on Windows 7 operating system.

Notes Client Single Sign on service is enabled and started, but SSO doesnt work. This is a compatabilty issue.

Consolidating Rooms and Resources

Many of us might be looking for the option on how to consolidate meeting rooms and resource configured on multiple servers to a single server.
Migrating R&R is no more manual, i have come across a good tool, which help me to do that in few second.
I have used that tool and found to be really useful important stuff which save time and manual efforts. :)

Notes 8.5.1 You can use "type to find" in the Open list (Docked or not) to find workspace menu

The GOOD news is that you can use the "Type to find" at the top of the Open list to find a "chicklet" on your workspaceFor example, I can type "Workspace" in the "Type to find" and it find the "Workspace Docs" for me.

Notes 8.5.1 will use the phrase "Replication and sync" in various places

In Notes 8.5.1 the term Replication has change to "Replication and Sync"

Problem while enabling DAOS on AIX

When attempting to set up DAOS on AIX server we ran in to the following error in the log The database /lotus/domino/data/mail/xxxxxxxxx.TMP was unable to write to file /DAOS/0001/F0CEB8D561FA1F89852575F20069C85F47F0CEB8D561FA1P.nlo: File cannot be created.
Follow the below steps to resolve the same.
1. Disable DAOS for all mail files (l compact mail\xxxx.nsf -c -daos off)
2. Shut down Domino
3. Remove all DAOS directories
4. Remofe daoscat.nsf and daos.cfg from the Notes Data directory 5. Restart Domino 6. Enable DAOS for a mail file to test (l compact mail\xxxx.nsf -c -daos on)
